Education and Training

Education on Circuit and pupillage is run by Ben Blakemore, Director of Education.  Emma Harris, is in charge of New Practioner training.

Circuit Education
Under the guidance of Heath Edwards (HEdwards@9parkplace.co.uk) Circuit runs regular seminars on topics of particular interest to those practising on circuit. Such courses include specialist training for those prosecuting and defending in serious sexual offences and questioning vulnerable witnesses. Training for those interested in becoming Pupil Supervisor’s and advocacy trainers is also provided.

Pupil Advocacy Training
Matthew Roberts heads up a team of practitioner trainers to provided advocacy training seminars to pupils culminating in day long mock trial before local Circuit Judges and Recorders.

New Practitioner Training
In or around May each year Emma Harris, supported by senior practitioners from circuit and the local judiciary, runs a weekend long course for junior tenants in their first 3 years of practice. The course ensures that juniors on circuit are able to complete the compulsory element of new practitioner trainer (both advocacy and ethics).
